The Michigan Supreme Court issued an order this week making amendments to Michigan Court Rules 6.112 and 6.113.
According to the court staff, "These amendments clarify how a prosecutor's notice of enhanced sentence required under MCL 769.13(1) is to be provided in courts in which arraignment has been eliminated under MCR 6.113 (E).
The amendments both take immediate effect pending a public comment period, open until Aug. 1, followed by a public hearing.
The court is also proposing a number of other proposed amendments to court rules, including Michigan Court Rules 2.004, 3.026, 4.201, 5.108, 5.125, 5.208, 5.403.
The comment period for these proposed amendments will remain open until Aug. 1.
