In Memoriam: Joseph L. Sax, Environmental Law Pioneer

Joseph L. Sax, a renowned scholar of environmental law who pioneered the public trust doctrine during his tenure at the University of Michigan Law School, died March 9 in San Francisco.  Prof. Sax taught at the law school from 1966 to 1986, during which time he wrote Michigan's Environmental Protection Act.
