U.S. House Approps Proposes $104 Million Cut in Legal Services Corporation

The House Appropriations committee last week announced its proposal to cut funding for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) by $104 million, a cut of about 26%.  In response, LSC said the cuts would roll back funding to its lowest level since 1999, while requests for assistance are increasing.  The population eligible for civil legal aid has grown by 17% since 2008, to an all-time high.
