Time on your hands, legal knowledge, big law school debt. You can kind of see where this is going. Outrage at the disconnect between what law schools appear to offer and what reality delivers has already given rise to a website (lawschooltransparency.com), a Senatorial speech, a hunger strike, and now, perhaps the most predictable move of all -- a lawsuit. The plaintiff is a disillusioned document-reviewer who graduated in 2008 from Thomas Jefferson School of Law with honors and $150K in debt. She says she was deceived into going to TJSL by the US News and World Report statistics showing a high rate of employment for TJSL grads -- statistics, the lawsuit claims, that are "false, misleading, and intentionally designed to deceive all who read them." The suit seeks class action status and compensatory damages of $50 million for some 2,300 TJSL students. Here's the complaint (PDF).
