The unemployed lawyer who as blogger "Ethan Haines" lit up the legal blogosphere on August 5 by announcing a hunger strike to protest law schools' lack of transparency about the legal employment market has revealed her real name: Zenovia Evans. Her story is included in USA Today's story, Grads taking law schools to taks for poor job market. ABA Journal says that Evans is a 28-year old law grad from Denver whose LinkedIn profile identifies her law school as “Contemporary Midwestern Law School” where she specialized in international law. A Cooley Law School publication identifies a Zenovia Evans as a student at Cooley's Auburn Hills campus who mentored Pontiac Northern students in 2008.
According to the ABA Journal story, Evans' hunger strike is continuing:
“I am officially at the end of the second stage of starvation,” she writes. “I have rejected all food thereby limiting myself to water and fruit juice for the past 12 days. Stage three—where death is highly probable—is in the very near future, but I have yet to receive any communication from law school officials regarding my Notice of hunger strike. As of today, I have lost 15 pounds! I am at a loss for words. … I will continue my hunger strike until law schools respond or my body gives in.”
Update: The answer apparently is that Ms. Evans is a Cooley grad. More details about her story can be found today on Huffington Post.
