If you are a law firm and you fire a senior associate by the name of Deidre Dare for refusing to stop publishing an online erotic novel, should you really be surprised when she sues you for unfair dismissal and sexual discrimination? In her claim, Dare asserts: “I believed I had every right to continue to write (…) in my personal time. Many lawyers are frustrated writers: we work with words. (…) This is gagging the entire profession and basically saying that we’re not allowed to be creative in our spare time."
Granted, this is a British law firm and the office was in Moscow, but nevertheless SBM Blog asks: "spare time"? An associate?
The Lawyerist has the story.
