An order of the Michigan Supreme Court entered Friday, May 2, announced that the appointment of Robert Agacinski as Grievance Adminstrator concluded effective on the date of the order. Under MCR 9.109(A), the Supreme Court appoints the administrator and the deputy administrator and may terminate either appointment at any time with or without cause. The Attorney Grievance Commission has the authority to recommend candidates for appointment as administrator and deputy administrator.
Mr. Agacinski was appointed Grievance Administrator in 2000. He previously served as an assistant Wayne County prosecutor for 22 years. AP reported that a statement from the Supreme Court on Friday said the Court wants to improve operations and speed the resolution of pending cases. The chair of the Commission, Barbara Smith, told AP that she doesn't believe investigations move too slowly.
