Retired Judge Mary M. Waterstone, of Detroit, recently passed away at the age of 74. She was a 1965 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. She was a clerk for U.S. District Judge Fred W. Kaess and in 1968 became an adjunct associate professor at Wayne State University Law School. In 1991, she was appointed judge of the 36th District Court, and in 1997 to the Wayne County 3rd Circuit Court. Judge Waterstone was a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Detroit Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Michigan District Judges Association. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at the Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church, 8625 East Jefferson Avenue (between Burns and Jefferson). A reception following the service will be held at Sinbad's Restaurant, 100 St. Clair Street.
