Viewabill, a start-up company that has developed an app that lets clients see their lawyers' billing as it is entered, is profiled in the New York Times DealBook. Milan Markovic at Legal Ethics Forum approves:
One advantage to the Viewabill system is that it will encourage firms to develop good timekeeping habits. Clients will be able to see if the attorneys working on their matters enter their time sporadically or input it all at the end of the month. To avoid upsetting clients, law firms may also train lawyers to be more economical in the use of their time whereas in the past partners could simply "write off" excess time.
