The Day The Michigan State Bar Association Died

The precursor of the State Bar of Michigan was the Michigan State Bar Association, a voluntary association that came into being in 1890, and lobbied for the creation of a unified bar association in the thirties.  With the statutory creation of the State Bar of Michigan in 1935, the Michigan State Bar Association no longer had a purpose, and accordingly was dissolved 77 years ago today, on January 10, 1936.
