Thomas M. Cooley emeritus professor Otto Stockmeyer offers this as an argument against letting 3Ls take the bar exam:
I taught seniors at a Georgia law school back in the 80's when third-years had the option of taking the February Bar Exam. It was a disaster from a teacher's standpont. Throughout January and most of February the students were cramming for the bar exam and blowing off their courses. And after taking the exam, they continued to blow off their coursework because, hey, the die had been cast. I believe Georgia has since done away with that option, at the request of the law schools.
