The story of Hudsonville district judge Kenneth Post holding new attorney Scott Millard in contempt last December for counseling his client not to answer the judge's question about prior use of controlled substances has a new chapter. On July 23rd, the Judicial Tenure Commission filed a formal complaint against Judge Post asserting that he trivialized a court proceeding, infringed on the constitutional rights of the defendant, and improperly held the attorney in contempt and sent him to jail for advocating on behalf of his client. Here's the complaint (PDF) and Judge Post's answer (PDF).
Today, the Michigan Supreme Court appointed retired Livingston County district judge John Pikkarainen to hear the complaint.
