Bypassing Harvard Law professor (and former Wayne State law prof) Elizabeth Warren, President Obama is nominating former Ohio Attorney General, Richard Cordray, to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Cordray graduated from Michigan State University in 1981, studied at Oxford University as a Marshall Scholar, served as editor-in-chief of the University of Chicago law review, and clerked for Justices Byron White and Anthony Kennedy. He is also an undefeated five-time champion and Tournament of Champions semifinalist on Jeopardy!, using his Jeopardy winnings to pay for law school.
